Financial institutions worldwide are spending billions of dollars in an effort to understand how to harness the power of data, rethinking their technology strategies and integrating data into their operations. They are rapidly evolving into data-driven businesses, and increasingly rely on data at all levels regarding both decisions and products. The COVID-19 pandemic has accelerated this digital transformation. Financial institutions must decide what kind of data to use, and how to access and organize it and deal with data ownership and sharing (open banking). These trends are profoundly changing interactions between financial actors, and creating new ecosystems centered around data. An in-depth understanding of these ecosystems and the opportunities they offer is an essential success factor, and an indispensable prerequisite for professional development.
