Prof. Boris Nikolov, SFI@UNIL, presents research on agency conflicts at Lund University, Sweden

SFI Prof. Boris Nikolov, SFI@UNIL, presented his paper “Agency Conflicts Around the World” at the School of Economics and Management at Lund University, Sweden on March 22nd.

The paper was co-authored with Erwan Morellec SFI@EPFL and Norman Schurhoff, SFI@UNIL. The researchers quantify agency conflicts using a new approach: by developing a model of financing choices and using observed firm policies to infer the magnitude of conflicts of interest in these firms. Results show that conflicts of interest between controlling and minority shareholders and creditors are widespread and economically sizeable in most countries. View the paper here:
